Foundations Campaign

A campaign of Christ the King Anglican Church, for the life of the world in Beckley, WV.

Our 3-year goal is to raise $300,000 by the Summer of 2029 to renew our building, bring beauty both inside and outside, pay off our loan, and further establish a stable financial foundation for a flourishing parish in Beckley, West Virginia.

Our clergy, leadership, and membership have already committed significant funds towards our 3-year goal. Will you join us?

The Telos

The final purpose of our Foundations Campaign is the Lord’s exhortation to the returning exiles in Isaiah 58:12 – we will rebuild, raise up, repair, and restore this property for the multiplication of worshipers and the flourishing of many generations.

And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.

CtK has spent many years making plans and counting the cost, and over the next 3 years, we will invest in foundational capital improvements, restore what is broken, and beautifully appoint both inside and outside for gospel ministry. All the while, we will continue to invest in Christian worship, catechesis, Bible study, growing our staff, and training future clergy.

Every space – green spaces and kitchens, worship spaces and living rooms, catechesis corners and a future curacy house – every space will be raised up to be fruitful, to multiply spiritual children, to bring blessing and safety inside this household, and to welcome outsiders into our home.

    A Letter from Fr Chris

    Dearly Beloved,

    We give thanks to God for his lavish generosity in allowing us to purchase this beautiful property, so that we might continue, renew, and further establish our mission for generations to come.

    CtK exists to “Worship the King, around the table, for the life of the world.” Thanks be to God, he has called us to this beautiful place – 2014 S Kanawha St – to this specific Eucharistic Table with these beautiful and broken people gathered around for the life of the world. Our 3-year Foundations Campaign aims to rebuild, raise up, repair, and restore this beautiful property for flourishing ministry.

    God has uniquely gifted CtK to reach many whom are wandering alone in our area. Over the last five years of renting this building, CtK has had a peaceful space to be a home for the fatherless, outcasts, and prodigals. We are all wounded healers within these walls, and God has healed and continues to heal many wounds in this house of prayer. We deeply desire to further establish this church to flourish – to be a faithful home for the administration of Word and Sacrament for raising up generations to come.

    The purchase of this property provides many opportunities for expanded ministry. Not only is there plenty of space for deepening catechesis for both children and adults, the church property includes a beautiful and well-maintained parsonage. In just 6 years of ministry, God has equipped CtK to train and send out clergy and laity, and we are making plans for this parsonage to further establish CtK as a training and multiplying church.

    Even as we are raising capital to better steward and renew this building, we confess that it is God himself who raises up the foundations of many generations. He has called us to join him in this work – the patient, generational investment of Christian catechesis over seasons, years, and lifetimes – but we must always confess that it is God alone who builds the house. In his home, we will pursue the “high, hard, lovely, and adventurous art of really creating the Christian family,” of truly being a living, sacramental, hospitable, evangelical, historic, orthodox, convictional, Anglican parish in Beckley, West Virginia for the life of the world for generations.

    I invite you, therefore, in the name of the Church, for the glory of Christ alone, to join me by investing in Christ the King Anglican Church in our Foundations Campaign.

    Yours ever,
